Coordinating a Muslim funeral between NRW cities
When the place of death, family and intended burial are in different cities, arrangements need to work together. From our Cologne location we clarify collection, transport, responsible authorities and burial at the chosen destination for each case.
Clarifying costs and responsibilities
An individual quotation separates our services, transport and external fees such as cemetery charges. Tell us the place of death, burial destination and documents available. The city pages provide local cemetery guidance.
Islamic funerals in NRW: process and arrangements
What should you do first after a death?
For a death in NRW, we first clarify the place of death, collection options and the responsible authorities. This allows the next steps to be coordinated efficiently.
Ghusl, Kafan and Islamic preparation
Ghusl and Kafan are prepared according to Islamic principles. We coordinate the subsequent steps through the funeral prayer and burial according to each individual case.
For further information, see Ghusl & Kafan and Salat al-Janazah.
Muslim burial and the cemetery
For burials in North Rhine-Westphalia, we clarify local options and coordinate the necessary arrangements with cemeteries and authorities.
Further guidance: Muslim cemeteries and burial sections.
Authorities and documents
The documents required depend on the circumstances of the death and the intended place of burial. We coordinate the necessary steps with the responsible authorities and tell the family which documents are needed.
International repatriation
International repatriation can also be arranged from NRW. We coordinate the required documents, corpse transport permits, consular formalities, cargo handling and flights.

BestG NRW: religious wishes, documents and time limits
NRW burial law takes religious needs into account (§ 7). As a general rule, burial may take place no earlier than 24 hours after death and must take place within ten days (§ 13), subject to statutory exceptions and official decisions. The required documents and releases must be available. Burial in a Kafan without a coffin depends on local cemetery regulations and any necessary permissions; it cannot be promised for every cemetery in NRW.
