How repatriation works

After collection, we first clarify and coordinate the required clearance. Registration and the necessary documents follow, then the transport permit where required. Consular formalities and destination-country requirements may be prepared in parallel; finally, we coordinate the flight and cargo process.

Documents & consulate

Requirements depend on the destination country and the individual case. We coordinate with the responsible authorities and tell the family what is still needed.

Flight & cargo

We coordinate flight and cargo handling and keep the family informed about the planned process and handover at destination.

Reliable support · clearly explained

International repatriation with responsibility

International repatriation brings together official requirements, destination-country rules and the wishes of the family. Al Rawda coordinates the necessary communication and remains a reliable point of contact for relatives.

01

Clear for families

We explain which information or documents are needed in the individual case, so relatives do not have to navigate different responsibilities on their own.

02

Islamic care

Before an international repatriation, Islamic care of the deceased is a matter of course for us. As far as the circumstances of the individual case allow, this includes the ritual washing (Ghusl), shrouding in the Kafan, and preparation for and performance of the Janazah prayer. For us, an Islamic burial is not an additional service. It is a communal obligation (Fard Kifaya) and a responsibility before Allah. We approach this responsibility with care, dignity and a conscientious commitment to preserving the Islamic funeral rites.

Destination-specific requirements

Requirements vary by destination, place of death and individual circumstances. We therefore clarify what is actually required rather than making blanket promises.

What relatives can have ready

Existing identity and civil-status documents of the deceased are helpful, as are details of a contact person or intended destination if already known. We clarify which evidence is actually required for the case.

Expertise without unnecessary bureaucracy for the family

International cases can be time-sensitive and document-intensive. Our role is to coordinate the necessary parties reliably, identify special requirements early and keep relatives informed in clear language. Internal working procedures remain in the background.

Frequently asked questions about international repatriation

Can repatriation be organised from anywhere in Germany?

Yes. Al Rawda also organises international repatriations for deaths outside Cologne and Bonn. The arrangements depend on the place of death and destination country.

How long does international repatriation take?

There is no responsible one-size-fits-all timeframe. It depends on clearances, available documents, destination-country requirements and transport availability.

Which documents are required?

This depends on the individual case. Civil-status records, identification and further official or consular documents may be required. We tell the family specifically what is needed.

Can Islamic care take place before repatriation?

Islamic care is, as a matter of principle, part of our preparation before repatriation. Ghusl, Kafan and the preparation for and performance of the Janazah prayer are carried out as far as the circumstances of the individual case allow.
